“my Body, my Canvas” is a journey I am going through to embrace my femininity: my struggle and confusion since early childhood in Iran and later as a young woman in the Netherlands, the paradox I am facing comparing my life to the life of female characters in ancient Iranian literature, many questions I run into while trying to unravel the paradox, my frustration, anger, and sadness when I am confronted with the physical impact of this paradox on my body, and the price I have to pay to be able to create a new portrait of myself on my wounded body.
